Sydney harbour

We spent a few days in Sydney during our trek down the coast.  It was...uhm 'interesting' in the city when we arrived.  We found out later it was so 'colourful' in the downtown area because it was Mardi Gras - Gay & lesbian Mardi Gras that is  - here is what that was all about! http://www.mardigras.org.au/  The parade was the big event & happened when we were there.

Anyway, the weather wasn't great but it didn't really make a difference to us as we took the bus to the pier and headed out on the ferry through Sydney harbour to Manly.

Here is the famous bridge - you can see how overcast it was.  Luckily there was no rain though....not yet anyways!

A view of the Sydney from the harbour

Tilman was trying to nap on Mom

A view towards Manly beach - there were surfers even though it was not a nice day.  They are out there regardless of the weather!

We loved the shopping area in Manly, it was so nice but very busy.

We had a great day at the Manly Wharf - good coffee and some yummy gelato!

The Opera house up close

An amusement park seen under the bridge

The beautiful bridge again

The Opera house was packed with people even though it started to rain on our sail back to the pier

We really enjoyed Sydney but it is a huge, big city.  We are going back to spend another few days before we head home.  This time we are not staying downtown so that should help with the stress of driving in a strange place.  We are going to be staying at the famous Bondi Beach & taking in the most popular beach in all of Australia.  Plus, Tom & I have been watching a cool show here called 'Bondi Rescue' It is a reality show featuring the lifeguards at Bondi & real rescues they do.  Its like the old Rescue 911 but 'beach style' -   we love it!
